Outfit || 80's Flair

Bekah's 80's-ish Outfit
Wow! How long has it been since I did an outfit post?? I actually have 3 outfits photographed to show y'all, but since we are currently uploading the photos directly from our phone to Flickr... and two of them are on a memory card taken on the camera, here is the one outfit I can show you!

I'll start off by saying that everything in this picture was purchased at a thrift store! Big surprise huh!? The skirt: my Mom wasn't too thrilled when I came up to the check out and showed her my finds... she has already lived through the 70's, 80's. Both were filled with eccentric color combos and crazy prints. But, she did say it looked better on. Haaha! Good thing I'm pretty confident in my 'style'! I bought it for $3 at a giant Goodwill in Illinois on our recent trip to Elgin! (Their prices are even cheaper than our local thrift shops!)

The jacket: I have had it in a bag in the closet for the last 2 months. I loved it, and it is totally in style... I just didn't know if it was my style. Or, more importantly, if it was at all flattering to my figure. But I knew it was too cold to wear my short sleeve lace top (Goodwill, $3) without something else, and since I really love it, I decided to bite the bullet and wear it out of the house. :-) I got a few compliments on it and gained enough confidence to 'brave' wearing it again! The jacket brand is Jordache [from the 1978], the lace layering shirt is Xhilaration,  and the paintball skirt is Pure Energy.

I'm so glad we walked down to the railroad tracks instead of staying on the boring ole road, it opened up opportunities for photos like the gem below. :-P

 To bring together the lace shirt with my shoes, I wore Cassie's lace oxfords. They incorporated a springy feel to and otherwise darker-toned ensemble.

My hairstyle is one that I made up while toying with what to do with my wavy locks. (I braid them every night for texture, and because if I don't, my hair resembles a head of kinks.) Since then, I have done this twisty updo 2 other times, with a few extra bobby pins and a layer of hairspray, this endures quite a lot! In fact, I once went to bed with it in (long day!) and woke up to find it looking acceptable for the whole following day! *disclaimer* I did look a bit disheveled by the evening of the second day, third-day wearing is not advised. Hahaha!

This is one of my favorite ones from that Saturday.

Sorry for the amount of pictures I'm posting, I assure I whittled it down as much as the photographer in me allowed! I admit it- I love pictures! Haha!

Well folks, if you didn't notice, I missed my Why I post this week. I didn't have any questions that I was instantly ready to answer, but I assure you that if at all possible, a Why I post will be posted next week Wednesday. :-) In the meantime, why don't you leave me a comment with a short lighthearted question that fits with the Why I post agenda. For instance: why do you love butterflies more than mosquitoes? Why do you walk outside in the snow? Haha! Get it? ;-D Thanks in advance!
Well folks, (I need to think of some new opening phrases, hahaha!) it is almost Sabbath here at the Shashaguay household, Dad is in the backyard grilling hamburgers (yes! We know it is only 27*! We want summer okay?? Hahhaa!) Mom is playing the piano in the basement, the little girls+ Bella are doing watercolors on the schoolroom table, and there is a wailing baby calling for my full attention! It is altogether impossible to concentrate on a deep or meaningful note to close this post on with Giana screaming at the top of her lungs 2 feet away for yet another bottle- so! So long and farewell dearest reader! We shall meet soon again in the comment section! ;-D

Where would your ideal photo-shoot location be?
Have you mastered the skill of multi-tasking with a baby in tow?
What is a topic you'd like to see covered in next week's Why I?

  1. Great outfit, Rebekah! It would be sooo fun to go thrift shopping with you! I understand about the baby; I have 10 nieces, and nephews. :-)
