Hello everyone! You can blame my absence from the blog all last week on my lackadaisical mood. I decided it would be too much to mask it, and just left the blog un-updated. And if you are clever enough to realize, that in fact, today is the fourth Monday instead of the third (in which we usually post MM on) that just goes to show you how wonderful our Creator is...
You see, last week Brigid Boyer and I contacted as we usually do, the week or so before MM flies around and set things up. I gave her the news that my Mom had found an entire stack of wonderful magazines (They are simply perfect for sharing with y'all. Ranging from Junior Home from the 1920's, Better Homes and Gardens form the 30's & 40's, Woman's Day from the 50's, and a Household, Post, Life and Health, and a Woman's Day Companion! SO excited!) anywho- after letting her know that our usual third Monday of the month would be fine, I waited for the weekend to concoct my post for the following Monday. Well to make a long sappy story short, Brigid emailed me asking if we could either switch to the next Monday (today) or to just have me go ahead and just link up the next week as soon as her post was up, as some things had come up, leaving her unable to meet our deadline of that day. I'm just sharing this bit of a back story to let you all know that God does some little crazy things for us! After feeling so low, I really didn't want to try to whip up a post, a Magazine Monday post non the less! It just worked out so well. I was so blessed by that small blessing the Lord did for me.
I've included a few black and white ads up there before I get into what I think that meat of this magazine is. The whole thing really is just chucked full of fabulous little insights. Quite fun for a 1930's enthusiast like myself to see. And let me add that in the slew of magazines my Mom picked up, there were actually three BH&G from the 30's! This one from '34, one from '36, and an August addition from '34 as well. They are just too much fun to look through!
This P&G ad has to be my favorite in this month's magazine. The color is so vivid and the design so adorable! Part of me kinda wants to tear it out to frame for our vintage inspired laundry and wash room, but I'm not quite sure I could do it. What do you think?
This my friends, I think has to be the real draw for me in this particular Better Homes and Gardens. Though just a three paged article (page three not shown), I found it quite interesting. The article talks about the advantages of taking photos of your garden; recording your garden through the world of photography and the necessary tips of exposure, shutter opening, and even what time of day best suits some flowers- what times best suits the different kinds of the photos to be taken. Pretty neat eh?!
Posting about this magazine would not be right without including just a bit of the "Homes" end of it now would it? Right up above I've pasted in these two pages of before and after shots of homes that had been remolded and awarded. They look quite different to say the least! I must admit that even in the modern Better Homes and Gardens, this section is really my most favorited. To see all the ideas of so many different styles of rooms turned so drastically into something else is soo inspiring! I just love it!
Thats all for today now dears! I hope you enjoyed this month's edition to Magazine Mondays and that you have a splendid rest of your day! Oh, and don't forget to let me know of what era you'd like me to share from next month! I have magazines from the 1920's through the 50's now that you have not seen remember! Let me know in a comment!
How was your last week?
Have you seen anything you especially liked from this MM?
