Yesterday we were able to be part of a very special event- going to our baby cousin's
Our sermon this Sunday was about prayer.Using the acronym- PUSH- Pray Until Something Happens. Our main verses are from Luke 18:1-8
"Then Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.(v.2) He said, "In a certain town was a judge who neither feared God or cared about men. (v.3) And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with a plea, 'Grant me justice against my advesary.' (v.3) For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, (v.5) yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' (v.6) And the Lord said, "Listen to that what the unjust says.(v.7) And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night ? (v.8) I tell you, He will see that they get justice and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth ?"
It is a good thing to pray, whatever your circumstances are in life it is a good thing to pray. Jesus had a lot to say about prayer. Even the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. Jesus asked the night of His betrayal, Father take this cup from Me. The Bible says that He prayed so earnestly that His sweat was as drops of blood.
We all have concerns. Because we live in a world that is filled with spiritual things we know that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. The only thing that we can really hang in to, that God tells us that we will get results from is prayer. We have to continue to pray- believing that God is going to do something. Prayer is what opens up the doors to be able to get into the presents of God.

Every day the widow would come to the judge pleading, asking him to get rid of her adversary- her problem- her concern.Until finally one day the judge decided to grant her her justice.
Here some important principles about prayer that we need to remember.
1.) Don't worry-
Pray until something happens. When you are worried about something and you don't know the
answer, you need to go to the one with has the final answer- you need to go to Jesus. Jesus says
pray and don't give up.
2.) Don't quit praying- be persistent.
The widow did not only go once to the judge, she was there everyday. We have to keep praying.
Psalm 55:16,17 Remember Hannah ? She never stopped praying, for years she prayed for a son
until she was answered. If we are persistent in praying God will answer.Be encouraged if you
have been praying for years for a single thing, be encouraged, don't quit, be persistent.
3.) Don't doubt- be positive.
Is God like the crooked judge ? No, He does not have to be pestered and harassed. Parables not
only contain comparisons, but they also contain contrast. This is further explained in verse 7.
We need to exespect that God will answer our prayer. The perfect chapter for this to be further
studied is in James 1. And 1 John 5:14, 15.
We need to rest assured that God know best- He knows the future. He knows everything that is going to happen His plans are to bring you life more abundant. This reminds me so much of one my my favorite songs by Casting Crowns- Already There. The chorus is amazing! Make sure to look it up if you do not already know it!
"When I'm lost in the mystery
To You my future is a memory
Cause You're already there
You're already there
Standing at the end of my life
Waiting on the other side
And You're already there
You're already there"
SO my mom went thrift shopping and found these heels at a thrift store for just $1.50! Yay! I love the shape of the heel and the buckle is so cute! I am not a huge fan of the parallel straps in the front but the latter takes the cake!
And what do you think about these tights ? Do you think that they are a little too 'showy'? I know that you have to be careful with these kind of netting type, but do you think they are okay how I wore them here ? Please tell me your opinion!
This skirt is an all time favorite that I have neglected to wear for some time. I always get a boat load of complements when I wear it. :)
I borrowed the quaint little gold necklace from my mom to help complement the white buttons and the lace headband coordinated perfectly with the tights.
Seems odd to me that I have been wearing heels so much lately! ;)

I love the shoes!! I wear tights similar, I think that when paired with long enough skirts or dresses, they look fine. It gives it a little pop of the vintage style and paired with the shoes, it looks adorable!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kalin! And for your opinion!

I think those heels are beautiful, and I think that style of tights lends to the classic/vintage look of the outfit!
ReplyDeleteYour new heels are super cute, and I really like Rebekah's shoes too!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kalin about the tights. They look cute if worn tastefully (as you have done).
This week our sermon was from Hebrews 11 about the faithful saints, as well the first part of chapter 12 and how we must set aside sin and obstacles in our Christian run of faith.
We have two older Casting Crowns CD's, but I have heard the one you posted on the radio. :)
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat! I love their music!
