Spirtitually Alive // In Plum

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
                                                      When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Hope that you all had a lovely weekend!
Isn't this song so wonderful ? It always brings instant peace and solitude to me. I was awakened with it on Sunday morning and was yet again amazed at God's insight. Our pastor brought it up during the sermon. I love how things work out like that. It gives you such a sort of measly feeling to rest and know that God is so much bigger than anything! And that He is there for you! There for me!

Our main verses are from Colossians 2:13-15

"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave all of your sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it all away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers of authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

What is this 'written code' talked about in verse 14 ? Here it goes (I love this)    When people in Bible times were accused of certain wrongs and put in jail for them there would a plaque written and nailed to their cell door. Consisting of the time being incarcerated and the follies of the person. Once the time of imprisonment was over the 'code' would then be canceled, payed in full, -forgotten. What this verse is saying is that Jesus took away all of our sins all of our charges and has payed them Himself! "He forgave all of your sins, having canceled  the written code, with all of its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it all away, nailing it to the cross."                 Amazing new way to look at it in a literal sense!

We need to remember that we are living a spiritual battle everyday. Our pastor shared with us the following five things that we need to grasp on to in order to be spiritually alive, bubbling up with, this new life we have with Jesus.
1.) You have been forgiven of your all of your sins. Verse 13
Being forgiven is what truly makes you alive. Sins is a poison. It is hard to get away from and hard to get rid of. Forgiveness is the balm that soothes your pain and your bitterness. You will know the joy of the Lord!
2.) All of your records of your charges are gone. Verse 14
Your charges are payed in full by Jesus. They are no longer yours. They are gone!
3.) Sins have been nailed to the cross.  Verse 14
The record of your sins are gone. You are alive in Christ. By Christ. This will give you a cheerfulness that no one can wipe away! Your outlook will be positive because of your abundant joy!
4.) Enemies and spiritual rulers are disarmed. Verse 15
Wow! Our every enemy is disarmed. They have no means in winning against us with the Lord as our leader. Which lead us to number five.
5.) We have victory by the cross. Verse 15
We have victory with Jesus. Who can stand against us with the Lord on our side ? We need to expect victory. When we have any doubt that we are not ready to 'fight', that we are not good enough to win, we are giving the devil a place to stand in on our side, our battleground that is the Lord's. Remember the verse, "The battle belongs to the Lord." ?  It belongs to Him. Surrender.  :)

Goodness! You have no idea how flustered I am with the picture end of this post! After a fun photo shoot with Rebekah and some great turn outs, our memory card decided to not save my faves! So disappointing! These are the best of the ones that I can use.(Not to mention no editing)The story is SO much longer than that, but I will save you from the details. So you will just have to imagine my new 20's shoes, pearl necklace, and wonderful do.   Sorry!

I was so glad to have found this vest! I love the color and the textured knit is so delightful! I finally was then able to wear my new heels with this to give a bit of a 1900's secretary twist. Love how it turned out! Wish that I could have shared some other pics with you all!

Now to enjoy some  Downton Abbey! I am just getting into it. We shall see how what my finished verdict is. As of now I have some 'mixed feelings' for it.

What was your sermon about ?
Have any songs stuck in your head lately ?
                                                                       Ever watch Downton Abbey ?

    1. Hi!
This is a hard one because I could really get to ranting about this. ahha
If you go to church you are going to learn- so just try to keep an open mind. And take notes so that you are being engaged in what is being said and going on.Get your outfit and bag (Bible, pen, paper, purse) ready the night before so that you are not in a rush and you have time to BE awake and eager to listen! Any other questions ?
      Thanks for commenting!

    2. Ok this is the first time I fell asleep ... I was sitting on a couch ... It was comfy... That's alot of work though... I really should probably change how I am in church/ youth group... Someone told me to change my group of friends haha

    3. That maybe true. If you are part of a large group at your church it is much too easy to have alot of different things going on that are not always 'family friendly'. This can be really hard to deal with. I am so glad we are part of a smaller church that is not full of too many differing characters! But, this may be going overboard.......
We all have less than easy times of being content and engaged!
Make sure your group is not coming together only for the fun of it, but the time of study! To ME too much goofing off is not worth my time and not why I go.We all want to have a good time, but we need to focus on why we are there, give respect to the teacher, and pray for our focus to be true! :)

  3. My old church was super small like 10 kids under 18. This one is kinda small we have 30 kids in youth group... No the kids in my group cone because they don't have a choice.... Ok we aren't always the best group... We congregate on the one lil couch in the back of the room... We've been asked to scoot up ... We never do.... I try to focus but then they start txting me and we play games on ate phones... It's just a mess... Are group as been called snotty stuck up rude cliquey those aren't true! We just have to much going on to focus but I might try. Notes ... But then I start drawing

    1. I am sorry! This is hard stuff isn't it !?
The only way that it can be changed though is by making a beginning, a revival, an up rising! :) If you truly want it to be better and be changed (for the better!) is by taking the step your self. Word gets around! Honorable opportunities always come from adults!--------
If adults have asked you to do something and every one of you has refused, you cant blame them for making accusations, though they might upset you! Think of it- if you asked someone to do something and you had the perfect right to and they refused you also would be angered. We all want to be looked up to- they deserve it- they have gone before- they have been through, most of the time alot! Try to remember that the next time it happens- they need you to give them the respect they are due. Someday it will be you!
As far as the overused phone situation goes- possibly ask (anonymously) if they could be taken away at the start of classes ?
Thanks for confiding in me! I am glad to be a friend and give out my thoughts!
      Many blessings and guidance!

    1. I am sorry that you are in such an impossible situation!
If you want me to be blunt about it, I do not see how being in a place like this is spiritually beneficial or an asset to your character. I would not be a part of this church or class- as far as you have described it here.
I will be praying and thinking of you!
