Little Sister Style // Cozy Polka Dots

Hello all! Just the other day, I was musing about how long it had been since we had shared an outfit from our younger sisters' creative little minds. Once our youngest sis bounded down the stairs in a rush to leave for town, in this darling warm winterous outfit, I knew it would fit the bill for today's post! All of us girls have had to pull out our tactics for keeping warm, but flattering, since our snow fall began last week. I'm looking forward to being snowed-in or going into hibernation, as we like to call it, but taking outfit photos in the snow, not so much.

Shoes- Dansko brand, thrifted $3 // Socks, leggings, shirt, and undershirt, thrifted // Skirt- Goodwill, $3 // Hat- Goodwill- $1 // Scarf and headband- gifted // Coat- Consignment Store, $9 (?)

Out of our two younger sisters, Melody here is definitely the more girly one out of the two. Though, Mom does always tease her, saying she could be in dress-up clothes all day long playing with a tea party set and still have dirt on her face. :)
For just turning eight years old, she sure has her own sense of style already! Just look at that cute combination of leg/foot wear! And you can always find her sporting a perfectly matched headband to dress-up her outfit to the neatest T.

Melody Adds:
"My older sister Emma (age: nearly 11), has this same skirt, but in a brown color. She finally decided to wear it, as she is a bit less of a dresser than me, after I told her to. Since we like to match, I put on my gray one. It was one of the first days it snowed so I had to make sure that leggings could be worn, so I wouldn't freeze, but I don't like them to show. So I put on these dotted knee-highs, since they had a gray background anyway, to cover the rest of my legs. My favorite colors are pink and purple, so I put on a plain pink shirt and my pink and purple Mary-Jane Danskos that Cassie bought for me. Then I went up to the big girls' room to see if they had a headband that would match. I found this gray flower one that matched, so I wore it. I was warm all day while we were in town the day I wore this."

What do you like about Mel's outfit the most?
Polka dots or stripes?

Keep warm, wherever you may be!

  3. Very cute outfit! Melody definitely has a sense of style in her clothing as well as writing. Perhaps if you gals ever decide to retire from blogging you can pass the torch to her. ;) :)

  4. So adorable! Good job putting together such a cute and classy outfit, Melody! You certainly have your own wonderful sense of style, and I love your polka dot socks. :)
I love both polka dots and stripes...sometimes together! I must be drawn to stripes a bit more though, since my closet is full of them!

  5. What a cutie! (I hope you'll forgive me for saying that Melody. :D)
I love Melody's skirt and hat. And her shoes look like the type I would have liked to wear when I was her age. I used to LOVE purple. I still do, just not the same shade as I used to.
