Yesterday was my Dad's birthday so we had a few people over after our church services to celebrate. Our service was fairly usual, and since I am getting a (very) late start to this post, not to mention babysitting from 6a.m. to 8p.m. today, I will do my best to make this quaint and straight to the point- if you don't mind. :)
Our sermon was about how God tests our faith- for our own good- because of His love for us to grow our faith in Him- not entirely a peachy subject. But we need to know that through things God is still there- He is still the One who made the Heavens and even the tiniest of details. Take a breath, close your eyes and put your face to the wind :) and just think about how much greater He is over everything!
The main verse, though only a part of it, is from Matthew 9:29
"According to your faith it will be done to you."
What are we expecting to accomplish out of life- yup, a big question. This is called the law of faith. God says you get to choose what you are going to see. Because "according to your faith it will be done to you." Another verse that follow these lines is Hebrews 11:6 "Without faith it is impossible to please God." We all like to be respected (obeyed) in some way- we are pleased when others take our advice. God is the same way. He is pleased when we trust Him. We can do all the right things and still not be pleasing the Lord if we are not doing it in faith. So it it important for us to learn how to live expectantly as we learn to live by faith. What are we expecting ? Whatever it is if it is not of faith, the Bible says it is sin! Yikes! So, we need to begin to live our life in faith understanding that our faith is going to be tested many times, different ways, and that faith is the thing that is going to be pleasing unto the Lord, because "Without faith it is impossible to please God."
Tests determine what we know and how we can apply to what we know to the problems that are given to us- right ? Not in every circumstance but, alot of the time God uses things that the world has tossed at us to stretch our faith- to make it grow so that we may grow closer to Him.We have to grow in our faith. In Luke 17:5 the apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith. They understood the importance of living by faith. We all want to have more faith- to be able to please God- to give us a stronger sense of expectation. How does God build our faith ? The secret is this- though not too exiting- is that our faith is built by God testing it.
"...because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."
James 1:3
Everyday, big or small, we have a choice to make- either we trust in God, letting Him stretch our faith for us to grow, or we will give in. We each make our own choices, but God will always be there waiting for us- He will always be helping us along, picking us back up, all because of His great love!

Pretty outfits and lovely hairstyles, ladies! :) Cassie, your shoes are so cute!
ReplyDeleteYes, God definitely does grow our faith in Him through trials! I'm not sure what our sermon was about because it's my month to teach children's church. My lesson with the kiddos was about Solomon's wisdom. :)
Thanks! Aww.. That is great!
