Modern Western in Denim || Today I Have...

Hey y'all! Here's an outfit I wore quite a few weeks ago to our Sabbath group and to church the following morning. If you've been 'following' our blog for a while, you may notice something a bit different about this Sunday outfit. I'm wearing a jean skirt!

That's right! Jean. While there is absolutely noting wrong with jean skirts in general [Quite the opposite- I love 'em!], we have chosen as a family to not wear jean to church because it's just too casual... {I also mentioned this HERE} But wearing this outfit also made me do something else out of the ordinary: I ironed a jean skirt!

I decided to take my outfit photos with Havah since it is Western themed attire!

Remember this belt?  I got it on my birthday last year!

I got this shirt at a thrift store sale! I also got a yellow/white ombre one with the same style, the cotton stretch fabric on the sides gives it a different look [Not just a regular button-down] don't ya think?

I also got my purple undershirt at the same sale, it has short cap sleeves and a pocket on the front {Not shown}. First I had only the purple shirt on under, but since I was leaving the blue shirt unbuttoned, it wasn't quite modest enough, hence the other white under-undershirt! Also, it wasn't very warm out yet!

Doesn't this gibson tuck go beautifully? Cassie added the braid for a little depth.

I finally managed to get a decent shadow picture of myself!

My horse and I.

Today I have:
  • Yet again woken up early! I love it when the sun rises at 6:30 a.m.! [No, that wasn't sarcastic!] I have to force myself to stay in bed 'til 7:00, no kidding! This morning I thought it was at least 9:00 and I get up, check the clock, and it's 7:30! :-)
  • Started memorizing Matthew 5:43-45 for my English curriculum. 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
  •  Missed my goat. Last Sunday she died of unknown causes. :-(
  • Tried to corral 4 ducks with an excited 22 month old! As you can imagine, it didn't turn out well. The ducks ended up in the swamp and we ended up in the dust.
  • Changed fractions to percents.
  • Drew a bar graph of  "The Area of Four Small European Countries".
  • Journaled, as I do almost every day! [The spell-check insists that 'journaled' isn't a word!]
  • Held Ira, our wild baby rabbit.
  • Collected a freshly layed, beautiful, brown egg.
  • Listened to Vicky Beeching's music. She has some really good worship songs!
  • Learned to play "When the Saints Go Marching In". Oh how I long for the day when I can play Erin Bates version!
  • Ate an orange.
  • Been constantly amused by the little girl we babysit. Toddlers are so crazy! Especially when they can talk but still babble!
  • Not pinned anything on Pinterest. [Yet anyway!]
  • Had spaghetti and fresh bread for lunch!
  • Wished the new Duggar episodes were up on Youtube already.
  • Been thankful that someone even takes time to upload them! What would I do without their show?!  ...Probably more schoolwork.    ;-)
  • Hauled give-away to the van to bring to church for the summer yard sale.  Tonight we have to price/sort/go through all the donations!
  • Finished this post!

Have you done any of the same things as me today?
Have you heard of Vicky Beeching before?
Have you ever ironed a jean skirt or jeans before?
Does your church have an annual yard-sale?

     Thanks for reading!

  1. Erin Bates is the most talented pianist I've had the pleasure of hearing. :) We used to attend their church (we along with them ended up leaving due to some things) and Erin played the piano. Now they cut down our trees, haha! Amazing people and so, so sweet.

    1. I have to admit, I felt a pang of jealousy when you said you know the Bates! I hope to be someday half as an accomplished pianist as Erin! ;-)

  5. What a cute, western outfit, Rebekah! I like that photo of your boots and Havah's legs together.
Hm, I haven't heard of Vicki Beeching. I shall have to look her up. :) And no, I've never ironed jeans or a jean skirt before! There's a first time for everything though, right? ;)

  6. I love Duggars & Bates! No kidding! My favorite Duggar is probably Joy Anna. My favorite Bate is definitely Tori! LOL. Spelled the same as mine too. Also spell-check doesn't like Duggar. LOL.
