Fabulous Feminine Fashion || Jessica Boyer

Yippee! We are here to share with you, day one of our Fashion Show in celebration of our one year anniversary of blogging! To kick off our week, we are sharing a delightful outfit presented to us by the eldest sister of a wonderful blog we have grown to adore. Jessica Boyer has kindly brought together her thoughts for her entry, join us won't you, as we take a stroll down the avenue of feminine fashion!
Hello ladies!
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Jessica Boyer, and I am the eldest sister who blogs over at the Boyer Family Singers. Here are a few things you might like to know about me: I am a lover of all kinds of birds and animals; whenever I can, I will take long walks up and down our street with our two pups and a sister, rain or shine; I adore vintage fashion; obviously I sing, not just as a soloist, but in a trio group with my two younger sisters; and finally, I can do just about anything regarding arts and crafts.

For this fashion show, I wanted to express my femininity in every way possible, just as the Shashaguay sisters asked. Thus, I pulled on my newly thrifted regency-meets-modern dress, paired with a khaki gold-flecked shrug, and finished the look with my ankle strapped flats, and faux-leather purse.

This dress was found as a strapless maxi at our nearby Goodwill store. The immodest, though beautiful, garb was soon fixed by Mom's capable hands with the addition of black cotton straps. I still didn't feel completely modest (even with the wide straps) because a lot of my shoulders and back were exposed. Thus, I wore the shrug. In and of itself, I think the shrug brings out the regency characteristic by acting as a light, half spencer jacket. I know that this notion is stretching the similarities a bit, but think about it: this is really what a modern day regency outfit could look like!

Typically, the only jewelry I like to put on is a pair of earrings. I do have quite a few necklaces, but they always tend to tangle and look messy when I wear them. So I make things simple by wearing jewelry that looks nice on me all the time. You would think then that I would have a lot of earrings to choose from to complete this look, but actually, the one pair that suited it best were handmade purple dangles! These, along with my plum flats, mirrored the purples in the dress print quite nicely, creating an over-all complete look. My tan faux-leather purse was a nice choice as it did not take away, but added to the ensemble by its blingy shoulder strap and pocket trim. If I could have, I think I would have made the purse slightly smaller, as the size of this one dwarfs me a bit.

What would you change about this outfit?

Love,

Jessica

Dress: Thrifted // Shoes: Target // Shrug: Hand-me-down // Purse: Gifted // Earrings: Handmade

Such a wonderful style Jessica! We thank you ever so very much for your time and participation!

I think that we ladies would agree how effortless and easy, yet vibrant and feminine (we will, I am sure overuse that word this week) Jessica created her outfit to be! We were so happy to have someone enter an outfit that could be worn immodestly and make it into something very much the antonym! After all, at times when finding modest clothing seems to be such a struggle, it is always encouraging to see what other young ladies are doing to meet their standards with what the world has to offer and making it into something so classy and beautiful!

Much love,

  1. I can't seen any of the pictures... there are just like blank spaces with a cross in the upper corner. I'm sure it's a lovely outfit, as usual!

  7. That is such a pretty color on her! Maxi dresses are wonderful, but so many of them are strapless which is frustrating to say the least! Adding straps is a wonderful way to make it modest and that cardigan looks wonderful with the dress!
