Outfit // Modern Mix

Outfit // Modern Mix
Happy weekend to you! I'm checking in with a more modern outfit than I'm used to seeing on myself that I tossed together last Sabbath in effort to catch an unexpected church service. Little did I know us kids would end up staying home while Mom & Dad went. That left me and Bek with a fairly free afternoon- what else to do but take a few photos for the Blog right? I've also had a few thoughts about a common phrase. Take a peek won't you?

I've had a lot of thoughts lately about contentment (post on that specifically soon to come) how it is a key factor in our lives as believers etc. How we should rather be living for what God wants us to be doing than what we want to be or what we want to be unfolding in our lives right now. There is a little saying that floats around our circle of vintage loving bloggers and modest fashion bloggers in general that has always bothered me and that is something to the effect of 'being born in the wrong era'. Now I know as much as you do that past decades seem to be filled with well dressed ladies, men who acted like gentlemen and kids who behaved. Well sorry to break it to you, but that is just not complete reality. Instead of fantasizing about wanting to live in a decade that was not chosen for us, we need to embrace the place that God has placed us in. God is not a god of "whatever" or mistakes. He gave us each the passions we have to glorify Him through.

I understand why one would loosely state that seemingly innocent phrase.

I love vintage. I love hearing about things that have happened in the past. I love this country I call home and the fact that so many have given their all to let me live my life so freely compared to others. To say that I was "born in the wrong era" would simply be stating that God made a mistake, which is impossible. And, denying those before me their contentment as well. We live in this world, but we are not of it. No matter where our passions lie, we have but one purpose to use them for and that is for His glory alone.

I'm so looking forward to this week's posts y'all! Stay tuned, cause we've finally been bitten by the blogging bug again (plus having a break from being as busy is a help!) and have some fun stuff on the way!

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.

  1. I love your headband!
It's funny that you would post about this phrase, since the Boyer sisters just talked about it on their blog! Was it just a crazy coincidence?

  2. Cute outfit Cassie! :D I like your stripes and beautiful hair. :)
Those are true words! I agree with what you said about being content with where God has placed it. It's so interesting that you and Charlotte Boyer did a post on the same topic on the same day! That can't be a coincidence either. :)
