Outfit // What I Wore on Resurrection Sunday

Hello all! We are busy over here getting ready for our big week of Tulip Time. Each year it seems to creep up on us even with all of our preparations. Last minute costume alterations, 200 banket sticks to make and package, and daily toils has made our family very grateful for our fabulous Sabbath weekend before the event actually begins.

My Mom took a quick trip to a Goodwill that we don't visit very often and brought back this quaint felted repro hat just a week before our celebrated Easter Sunday. After I tried the hat on, everything else just fell into place, I used my ultimate linen summer dress as the base.

As for my hair, I sock-curled the front the night before with damped hair, separated them the next morning and pinned them back. Then took the rest of my hair in three sections, braiding two of them and doing a simple twist with the other, creating little rosettes around the hat.

I must add that since Rebekah was not feeling well the Sunday afternoon these photos were taken, a little sister willingly took her place as my photographer. It was so sweet of her and she did a fairly good job. We also had a nice bonding time as we went for a short tramp down our country road to get in some different scenery.

Shoes- Think! brand Goodwill $3 // Slip- made by me // Dress- White Stag brand thrifted $5 ? // Shrug- Goodwill $3 // Hat- Gifted from Mom Goodwill $4// Necklace- borrowed from Mom

I have enjoyed everyone's classy outfit posts from what they wore to their own special services so much this past week! I did notice that everyone who posted ended up wearing a dress. I think that it gives such a simple clean and springy feel. And you can have such a variety of accessories to choose from when adding the details!

What have you been up to?
Would you wear my hat?
What have you been doing with your family lately?

**Just a brief rundown [in case you are a new reader/follower] about our ties with Tulip Time. We run an all Dutch food dining room which an Aunt of ours is in charge of and every cent of profit is given to missions that help women and children. This year we also are part of The Dutch Heritage Show which features Dutch dances, fun skits, Dutch songs (which we sing in Dutch), and costume presentations. If you would like to read more about what we do just click on our 'Tulip Time' label on our sidebar or below! Thanks so much!**

  1. It sounds like you've been busy with your show! My mother (quite possibly the biggest fan of tulips ever!) had hoped to visit during Tulip Time and see The Dutch Heritage Show this year (a fun vacation since we live so close to Michigan anyways), but my sister is in a play which interfered schedule-wise. We were all rather disappointed about that.

Your outfit is very cute, and now I must ask if we will be seeing Rebekah's Easter outfit soon! That hat is so pretty and one of my favorite things about it is that it showcases your beautiful hair! Of course I would wear it!

And tell your sister she did a wonderful job on the photography! :)

  4. Ooh, I love your outfit: and your hair is gorgeous! As to answer the questions you asked, I haven't been up to much, except studying, helping babysit my siblings, and doing chores. Life is usually pretty busy around here. :) Also, I would definitely wear your hat--its soo pretty.

  5. Beautiful outfit, Cassie! :) You look so retro and elegant. Your little sister is a good substitute photographer.
Lately I've been up to preparing for my next art class, walking in a local parade with the Pregnancy Care Center we volunteer at, fellowshipping with friends over the weekend and getting ready for a homeschool Variety Show! Phew!
May God bless your busy week ladies. :)

  6. I LOVE your hat, Cassie. And the way you did your hair was lovely. You're really talented. :)
What is sock curling, exactly? I've tried pin-curls in my hair and even rag curls, but I've never heard of sock curls!
Your entire outfits is gorgeous. So elegant and simple. :)
