My 'Castle of Success' Story // From Finding Your Style Series

Hi everyone!   So, as I said last night I am posting today my outfit for the Castle of Success party for the celebration of Finding Your Style- the end of this series is this coming week! Anyone who has not a clue what this is all about- I have been following my dear friends, The Boyer Family Singers in their (Brigid's) blog series- Finding Your Style; A Journey of No-More-Confusion With Your Wardrobe. Sound like something that may help your dilemma? Well, check it out! But here is what I learned through this, and it has been fun!

So, I really have not been in a constant need of finding all this kind of information out because I am pretty solid in what I like and what I don't. But, just as most things in life there are always things to be improved in all topics! This is much of how it was for me, just following along for the ride and learning things here and there, getting outfit ideas, and how knowing what 'color' you are can help so much in looking radiant!

So, I will begin with: My Color
My color is Warm Autumn; hence my eyes being brown, my hair being, honey
brown, and skin, ivory. After putting a 'color name' on yourself you are able
to then read down further in your category and find out what colors look the
best on those types of people! It may seem overwhelming, but it is so easy-
                                  promise!

Next question was: What is your shape ?
My shape is some were between the 'pear' and 'hourglass' being slightly larger in
the hips than the ever so common hourglass figure has been explained to be. A
couple tips I learned for this type shape are as follows...
-Wear a belt about your waist.
                               -Wear high waisted skirts.
                               -Wear A-line skirts.
-Wear jackets that hit right above waist.

Lastly is: Your Style
My style is a cross between; The girly romantic; fluffy skirts, floral tops, and elegant bows.
Country western; boots, button ups, and dramatically solid.
Vintage/English Country; My personal vintage is more of an
antiquey look, a fresh battered jean skirt, calico tops, and
basic browns, more than wearing 40's and 50's dresses though
I do love them, it is just not what I own alot of- yet. :)
For my English  Country this mostly comes out in the winter,
plaid wool skirts and my simple sweater collection.

As you can see I did mix all of my favorites- Girly/Romantic, The lace cardigan
My 'vintage', raggidness of the skirt and brown throughout
Counrty/Western, cowgirl boots and leather to tie back my hair.
SO this can be done without looking conglomerated! I think the best way to do this successfully is to do the 'finding your color' test so that you can know what colors best suit your 'color'! If you adore more than one main style and still have your basic colors that go with 'your color' then what better a way to mix those than by having clothes that coordinate!

                                                                                           My attire:
Brown cowgirl boots, gift from friend
                                                                                           Brown tights; Meijer clearance, $2.50
                                                                                           Slip, made by me
Light blue high waisted skirt; thrift store, $3.25
This skirt was slightly too short for my personal  standards so I just seam ripped the hem open!  Yay! I had
been looking for a shorter high waisted!
Green calico shirt; made by me
                                                                                Lace cardigan; gift

No matter what your style is, let us always strive to honor God, not to mention your 'one and only'! Getting dressed can be fun (and is somewhat important) but, we need to make sure that we are not just putting on a front. That we are truly seeking God and His commands! We need to daily examine our hearts for pure thoughts and guidance from Him, helping to accomplish our every task while showing our faith to the world!

Are you in my style sphere ?
Are you visiting our blog for the first time through Finding Your Style ?

I hope that everyone has enjoyed this post!                                   ~ Cassie

  4. Really adorable outfit! It sounds like a really fun project. It's taken me years to figure out "my style" but I think it's actually a really important step as a girl, it helps you feel so much more confident in yourself when you're happy with how you dress everyday!

  5. This was really interesting! Your outfit is cute and autumnal. :)
So, I read your comment on my blog, but when I went to press "publish" I pressed "delete" instead. Oops! :( So I'll just reply to it here. To answer your question, I used the "Cutest Blog on the Block" and "Shabby Blogs" sites to download my background and add some embellishments. They give you a little code that you copy and paste into the HTML/Java option when you add a gadget to your blog layout. For the title banner, I had to save it on my computer then Photoshop the title on myself, but that was simple. Anyway, I hope that was helpful. :)
